About Us

We are a team of Christians in the Reformed Tradition deeply committed to the renewing of our minds through the word of God. As John Calvin described, "Our wisdom consists entirely of two parts: our knowledge of God and of ourselves. No man can survey himself without first turning his thoughts towards God in whom he lives and moves". Seeing the importance of right knowledge of God, as He is revealed in Scripture, we desire to promote doctrinal purity and fidelity through sound biblical exposition.

Liew Kong Wai

Hi I'm Kong Wai and one of my favourite hobbies is reading and writing about the truths of the bible. I'm very new to Reformed Theology but when i found it, I was captivated by its firm biblical view of God and man. So I've designed this webpage where like-minded Christians can expound on their learnings. I hold to the Three Forms of Unity, and am an active member of First Evangelical Reformed Church. But the views expressed in this website remain my own and do not in any way reflect or represent the views of FERC.

Mark Chia

My name is Mark and I seek to write about Reformed theology and issues from a biblical worldview. By conviction, I am a Christian in the Reformed Tradition and my standard of faith is the Westminster Confession of Faith. I am an active member in First Evangelical Reformed Church. Despite that, my views expressed on this site remain my own and do not necessarily reflect that of FERC, unless explicitly mentioned so. I appreciate comments and correction, so if you would like to get in touch to discuss, seek clarification or correct me on any of my writings, please get in touch on social media or via the contact us link below.

Eugene Lau

Eugene is a lamb gently led by and carried in the bosom of a good and loving Shepherd (John 10:1), who not only tends His flock with love but also comes with might to rule (Isaiah 40:10-11). His one sure hope is that this faithful Shepherd has promised never to lose any of His own (6:39).

As he learns to listen more attentively to the Shepherd's voice (John 10:4-5), Eugene also hopes to share with others the comfort of what he hears (John 10:10).

Mission & Beliefs

Our Mission. To glorify Christ by making known his character, work, beauty, and worth, as revealed through Scripture.

The conviction behind this effort is that ignorance of God and His holiness lies at the root of much of the church's weakness today. While sound theology is not enough to live a godly life, it is still a requisite for godly living. For how can we love what we do not know? Indeed, the idea that Christianity is a form of feeling, a life, and not a system of doctrine is contrary to the faith of all Christians. Therefore, we seek to present the truths of the bible to our friends and community and we appreciate all comments, questions, and correction from our readers.

Hermeneutical Foundations. How we read the bible.

We affirm the principle of interpreting the Bible laid out by Martin Luther and the reformers, which is to interpret the Bible the way it was written, according to the intention of the writer, and within the historical context in which the writing occured. While a text may have hundreds of applications, there is only one essential meaning, which is to be extracted from its literal, historical terminology. A letter should be read as a letter; a narrative as a narrative; poetry as poetry; and parables as parables. Moreover, we affirm that Scripture must be interpreted in its full and total context, because the word of God cannot contradict itself. Lastly, as Christ understood the central place he occupied in Scripture, we must do the same. For he says to his disciples in Luke 24:44-45: "Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms". Then He opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.

Our Beliefs. Reformed.

We embrace the Reformed Faith with its emphasis on the absolute sovereignty of God over all people and events. This absolute sovereignty of God saves and preserves the people which He has chosen before the foundation of the world, through Jesus Christ.
